Following the recent internal promotion of our current Personal Care Assistant to the role of ETA we have an opportunity for a new person to come and join Southgate School to provide support to our pupils with their needs around personal care.
Making a difference
In your role of Personal Care Assistant, you will have the chance to make a positive impact on our pupils by supporting our young people to gain an independence in managing their hygiene and personal care. You will be part of a positive staff team who support each other and you will help the Personal Care Officer to develop intimate Care Plans.

This role is designed to fit around your life. You will be in school between 9.15am to 2.30pm allowing you flexibility to manage your work life balance. This is an ideal role for people wanting to work part time or who are looking to gain experience in a school setting.Working at Southgate means you can will benefit from working during term time, giving you extended breaks and more flexibility throughout the year.
How you will make a difference- Encouraging and developing pupil’s independence in managing their hygiene and personal care
- Contributing to the development of personal care plans
- Using informal discussion and play situations with pupils to encourage good relationships
- Supporting pupils to develop their life skills around food and eating
- Assisting with the necessary minor medical treatments of pupils (as per school guidance and direction).
