Community Development Worker

Part time (22.2 or 29.6 hours per week) flexible hours
Salary: £24,327 pro rata

Permanent subject to funding

KEY TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • 22.2 hours (3 days) or 29.6 hours (4 days) per week, 25 days holiday pro rata, 1-day birthday leave, 8% non-contributory pension.
  • SOAR is a living wage employer and seeks to uprate salaries by the annual increase in the living wage

The Community Development Worker will be part of the Family and Community Services team at SOAR. Delivering asset-based community development work across North Sheffield with a focus on volunteering, working closely with individuals, community groups, and local organisations to identify needs, create opportunities, and implement initiatives that enhance community engagement, participation, cohesion, and well-being.

Your efforts will contribute to building a stronger sense of community and empowering individuals to take an active role in shaping their neighbourhoods.

Working with individuals, families, community groups and organisations to empower them to;
  • Identify assets, needs, opportunities, and gaps in service provision
  • Support volunteers with the transition of a foodbank into a social supermarket
  • Alongside partners, plan what needs to be achieved and support appropriate action.
  • With partners, develop activities and services
  • Contribute to the development of a recognised and valued voice for communities
  • An Enhanced DBS is required for this role
