Solicitor - Risk & Compliance (5+ PQE) Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Solicitor to join its high performing compliance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a regulatory specialist who enjoys combining legal expertise with practical operational impact, and who wants to help shape a modern, commercially focused compliance service.

The Risk & Compliance team plays a crucial role in guiding the firms strategic, operational, and regulatory obligations, providing clear, pragmatic advice across professional practice, enterprise risk, and economic crime compliance.
This position is ideal for a solicitor who enjoys delivering practical solutions, influencing firm wide processes, and contributing to the development of new client facing risk services. Key Responsibilities Internal Professional Practice & Compliance Advise partners and lawyers on regulatory duties under the Law Society of Scotland and, where relevant, the SRA.
Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, usable guidance, templates, checklists, and tools. Support the development and maintenance of firmwide policies, controls, and compliance processes. Provide guidance on conflicts, confidentiality, undertakings, client care, supervision and other core conduct issues.
Contribute to quality assurance frameworks including supervision standards, file reviews and risk mitigation. Support regulatory reporting, information requests, and ensuring the firm is "inspection ready." Design and deliver targeted compliance training and practical learning resources.
Client Facing Risk & Compliance Services Contribute to the growth of the firms commercial risk and compliance offering as part of an integrated "all risk" service. Deliver advice to clients on a range of compliance topics within scope. Help develop scalable products such as audits, diagnostics, reviews, retained advisory services and training packages.
Support business development activity including proposals, tenders, and client conversations. Build a strong external profile through seminars, articles and professional engagement (where appropriate). About You Qualified solicitor with 5+ years PQE.
Strong experience in professional regulation, risk, or compliance within a law firm or regulated professional services environment. Excellent working knowledge of professional conduct principles: ethics, conflicts, confidentiality, undertakings, complaints and supervision.
Ability to communicate complex requirements in a practical, accessible manner. Experience collaborating with operational teams (Finance, Operations, HR, etc.) on controls and process improvements. Strong commercial awareness and confidence contributing to business development activity.
