Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for their own complex caseload providing highly specialist dietetic assessment, formulation and diagnosis, intervention and advice based on evidence-based practice.
The post holder will lead on strategic developments within adult mental health dietetics with their line manager and dietetic professional lead. They will also lead on the development and delivery of dietetic training and professional mentorship
The post holder will deliver nutritional guidance and preventative information, working to empower parents, carers, other professionals and agencies.
The post holder will work as part of the wider multi- disciplinary team providing a high quality, effective, accessible, person-centred services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSc (Hons) degree or postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) or Master (MSc) in Dietetics
- HCPC registration
Training
Essential criteria- Range of relevant CPD training and qualifications with respect to specialist knowledge of dietetic professional interventions and evaluations.
- Leadership training
- Training as a clinical educator
- Specific mental health dietetic training
- Relevant post graduate Master modules or completed programme
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of complex caseload of adults with mental health conditions and cognitive impairments requiring dietetic interventions such as nutritional support, weight management, diabetes management, and disordered eating.
- Experience with risk assessment and effective risk management strategies as a dietitian working in mental health.
- Experience of effective working within MDT settings
- Experience of designing and delivering learning and development opportunities for a range of staff and students
- Experience in leading and supporting others
- Experience leading or managing project work
- Experience of research, quality improvement and service evaluation
- Experience of working collaboratively across teams or services as a dietitian
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Able to demonstrate applied specialist clinical knowledge.
- nutritional support including oral and enteral feeding
- Weight management
- Disordered eating
- Restriction of food and/or fluid
- Management of refeeding syndrome
- Knowledge of national policy and guidelines and application to practice as a dietitian
- Highly specialist knowledge of how mental and physical health contribute to risk assessment and support management.

Essential criteria- Ability to travel between two sites.
