Senior Technician (Composites)

The Faculty of Science and Engineering wish to appoint a Senior Technician (Composites) to provide teaching and research support for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager and deliver support in all aspects of Composites Engineering and manage the Composites Engineering Workshop. When you join us, you’ll be supporting a broad range of activities including undergraduate projects, teaching, research and outreach activities.

A key element of the role will be the day-to-day operation of the Composites Engineering workshop, and you will be involved with developing the facility in our brand new Engineering Design Facility which opened December 2023.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a candidate with a degree or HND in a relevant subject with a suitable period of relevant work experience. You will have practical experience in a variety of composites engineering techniques, including resin infusion and compression moulding.

Experience in the use of SolidWorks and Fusion 360 (or similar), and CNC composites machining is desirable.

This role includes a significant element of student facing work and so the ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic student focused environment.
