Management Accountant

We are working with a local authority in central Manchester to find a Management Accountant on an interim basis.

Length of role: Initial 4 months

Join our dynamic finance team as a Management Accountant, where you will support significant change and development within a leading transport organisation. This role is ideal for a part-qualified or newly qualified professional in CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CIPFA, who is ready to step into a challenging environment that influences regional and national strategic priorities.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Perform management accounting tasks including balance sheet reconciliations, and consolidation of accounts.
• Engage in month-end processes such as accruals and pre-payments using SAP.
• Provide variance reporting and analysis to support decision-making across various projects.
• Work closely with non-finance stakeholders to ensure financial insights and recommendations are communicated effectively.
• Manage and submit claim forms for grants, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Part-qualified or qualified in CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CIPFA.
• Strong experience in management accounting and month-end processes.
• Proficient in using SAP and other financial systems.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to perform complex reconciliations.
• Demonstrated experience in challenging external teams on financial decisions.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
