Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This rewarding position offers the chance to make a significant impact on young learners’ lives while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

About the Role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have additional needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive both academically and socially. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Encouraging positive behavior and fostering a nurturing learning atmosphere.
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Collaborating with staff and parents to ensure pupils receive the best possible care and support.

This role offers the opportunity to join the school on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract after a successful probation period.

Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Professional or personal experience working with children with SEND or young children.
  • A patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

While formal qualifications are not essential, they are advantageous, and any relevant experience in education, childcare, or support work will be highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
