Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
To provide an engineering consultancy service for mechanical and electrical engineering services works carried out for the City Council.- To assist with the management of the Electrical Services Team
- To provide full professional Engineering services and technical advice to elected Members, other Council officers, external consultants and external customers. The service is provided in order to implement the decision of the elected members of Aberdeen City Council through effective service delivery and implementation of quality measures within a Best Value framework.
- Degree in engineering services or similar discipline
- Supervision of team
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Leadership, guidance and support to other project members of staff
- Leading and delivering simultaneous complex programmes of work from inception to completion and client handover
- Lead and chair client and contractual meetings
- Contractor management
- Consultant management
- Using oral and written methods effectively for the communication of information to professionals, elected members and the public
- Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks
- Thinking independently and using innovation to solve problems
- Undertaking effective contractual negotiations with confidence
- Management of quality processes
- Coaching/Mentoring skills
- Working on own initiative and as part of a team
- CAD design and other relevant computer/IT systems and computer programmes
- Communicating & collaborating effectively with project staff and other multi disciplinary teams or groups
