SEN Teaching Assistant

Area: Plymouth
Contract: Fulltime, Permanent Position
Start Date: April 2025 or sooner

Salary: Dependent on experience with SEN allowance

The Role:

The successful candidate will support students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive tailored support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff, they will contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with diverse SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, and complex learning difficulties.
  • Assisting with lesson delivery and adapting learning materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to enhance student progress.
  • Encouraging students’ independence, confidence, and social skills.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.

Requirements:

  • Essential: UK classroom experience, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • Desirable: QTS or equivalent qualification.
  • A passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
