We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to join and become part of our team.
The above position is within the Hotel Services Department providing catering service for Patients, Staff and Visitors at the Danetre Hospital facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Your duties will include preparing and cooking food in our kitchen using a range of food preparation equipment and machinery. Serving customers in our restaurant from the servery area, and clearing tables in our restaurant will be part of the duties required.Cash handling will be part of the daily responsibility so good mathematical skills are required. General cleaning duties including use of a dishwasher will also be required.
Good proven food knowledge, interpersonal skills with a customer focus and high standard and knowledge of food hygiene practices and requirements.
Hours: 25 hours per week.
Shift pattern: 2 Week rota. Week one: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 09.30-14.30, Saturday and Sunday 08.30-13.30. Week two: Monday to Friday 09.30-14.30. Hours may be subject to change.
Weekend shifts are paid at the current NHS additional enhanced rate of pay.
Main duties of the job- Communicate with others in a prompt, polite and friendly manner.
- Liaise with other Catering staff/Volunteer staff to ensure timely service.
- To understand COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and ensure compliance.
- General cleaning of the kitchen and its equipment in accordance with cleaning schedules.
- Prepare, cook, and assemble food items using specialised catering equipment and skills, including knife skills, mixing and slicing, mandolin machines, steam ovens and brat pan use. The list of equipment is not exhaustive.
- Prepare filled sandwiches, salads and desserts for the patient menu.
- Assist with the daily preparation of ward trolleys and deliver to ward kitchens
- Undertake duties relating to the temperature monitoring and recording of all food items and equipment.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of buffets and functions.
- Complete all relevant paperwork as necessary required by department procedure
