An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietitian to join our friendly, forward thinking and supportive All Age Community Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Bury.

This is an excellent chance to develop your experience and skills working with both adults and children in a variety of settings including community clinics, care homes and patients own homes. You will be dealing with a variety of conditions including nutrition support, coeliac disease, allergies, gastroenterology conditions, weight management, diabetes, and more besides.

You will undertake the nutrition assessment of patients referred to the dietetic service using analytical skills and evidence based practice to calculate nutritional requirements and formulate an individual treatment plan, under the guidance of the specialist dietitian where required.

This post involves providing dietetic care to a variety of conditions including nutrition support, coeliac disease, allergies, gastroenterology conditions, weight management, diabetes, and more besides. Other main duties include:

  • Decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands.
  • To ensure the safe and timely transfer of patients on nutrition support between settings and liaise with appropriate internal and external agencies.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in discussions concerning the running of the nutrition and dietetic service.
  • Participate in the achievement of dietetic department objectives

We are involved in the training of student dietitians and staff development is a high priority. You will be fully supported by lead specialists to enable you to establish yourself in the role. We are committed to work based education and training to improve clinical skills and we actively encourage CPD and audit.

You will be a key member of our small, friendly and innovative nutrition and dietetic team which consists of 6 dietitians, 2 dietetic assistants and admin support. The team covers a range of specialities including; oncology, neurology, enteral tube feeding, weight management, gastroenterology, allergies/intolerance and paediatrics.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registration
  • BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics Or BSc. in relevant science followed by Post Graduate Diploma

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment
  • Basic competence in calculating nutritional requirements
  • Competent to develop nutritional care plans in community settings
  • Basic competence in assessment of Enteral feeding, use of Enteral feeding products, equipment and regimens
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work in multi- disciplinary teams
  • Basic IT Skills
Desirable criteria
  • Reflective practice and portfolio development skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience of team working
