- Lead and manage all laboratory operations, ensuring optimal efficiency, productivity, and performance across all areas of testing.
- Ensure that laboratory areas are organised, free from clutter, and all surfaces are clean, ensuring a safe and professional working environment.
- Promote and maintain safety and professionalism, ensuring all team members adhere to the same standards.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to department managers and laboratory staff, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
- Oversee the investigation of nonconformances and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact between laboratory operations and senior management, ensuring alignment of operational goals with business objectives.
- Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring full cooperation and timely investigation of audit findings.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of lab management.

- Degree/HNC in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in analytical chemistry (experience in environmental chemistry is highly desirable).
- Technical knowledge of environmental testing and various instrumental techniques.
- Previous management experience, with strong people management and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025:2017, MCERTS requirements, and LIMS systems - preferable
- LEAN methodology experience - preferable
- Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and resilience under pressure.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Competency in PC software (intermediate level), with strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills.
