Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist | Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - Oldham
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to join the Oldham Older Adult Clinical Psychology Service. The post is advertised at Band 8a; however, we welcome applications from applicants who are approaching qualification, newly qualified, or if you are interested in a preceptorship arrangement.

Main duties of the job
The role requires a qualified Clinical Psychologist who will have specialist skills for working with older people within secondary care services. You will work closely with service users and carers and with colleagues across the CMHT and the acute wards.Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more detail.
The CMHTs provide community-based assessment and interventions for older people with a variety of mental health needs. They also have close links with the Acute In-patient services working with those who may transit between living at home and needing intense periods of support in a safe nurse led environment.Working alongside the Memory Assessment Service (MAS), the Intensive Home Treatment Service (IHTS), the Care Home Liaison Service and the Living Well Collaborative will also likely be an increasingly important part of the role. Clinical work within the team will include providing direct psychological and neuropsychological assessment and therapeutic interventions.
In addition, you would support the delivery of psychologically informed care and care planning through case discussions, MDT meetings, supervision, training, and consultation.

The dual role involves working in a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and the acute in-patient setting (Older Adult wards Cedar and Rowan), where Psychologists are highly valued and form part of a wider multidisciplinary team, including other psychological professions (i.e. assistant psychologists, Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners).The post offers the opportunity for a variety of work including delivering psychological therapy, completing specialised neuropsychological assessments, providing clinical supervision, developing and delivering therapeutic in-patient groups, supporting the wider team through team formulation, consultation, and supervision and contributing to the identity of the wider Older Adult network across the trust footprint.
As a network, we are currently involved in several service development projects including pathways for psychological therapies for complex emotional needs, workforce development, community services transformation and the ambitions of living well.
Psychologists are integral to this process, and you would have opportunity to both support and participate in these developments. In addition, you would become part of a wider network of Psychologists across the Trust, facilitated by the Associate Network Director for the South Network and Older People’s services.We also have excellent relationships with the three North West Clinical Doctorate courses and the related institutions, which also provides further research, supervision, and teaching opportunities.
