Entrepreneurial consumer services group requires an Interim Group Financial Controller, an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior finance leader to join an organisation going through huge positive change, oversee M&A as well as ensure ‘business as normal’ during a period of high and exciting growth.

The appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the group and divisional finance departments, operational finance teams and various reporting functions. The role oversees business risk ensuring a sound internal control environment exists and there is effective compliance to all statutory obligations.

Working closely with the board to achieve the strategic aims of the business and drive though change in the team and wider business as a whole, you will be expected to apply good commercial acumen to the role, proactively manage the P&L and balance sheet of the business.

Providing strong Financial Controls and ensuring robust financial stability along with the ability to interpret, comment on and report accurately to the key stakeholders, they will also have the desire and ability to drive through change within this high-growth, profitable, cash-rich group.

Furthermore, the ongoing M&A strategy will require an additional skillset from the Financial Controller, as well as the support for an upcoming debt-finance raise.

The appointee will be qualified (ACA/ACMA/ACCA) with a track record of success in a number of senior finance roles.

This is a broad Financial Controller role which requires applicants to have a strong controls and reporting background, but also the ability to add commercial ‘nous’ to the numbers.

You will be in charge of all technical and regulatory accounting and reporting for the group. In addition, the role holder will be responsible for co-ordinating annual budgets and monthly profit and cash forecasting. Managing a small but well-functioning team, the successful candidate will be required to drive performance through up-skilling employee capability and re-engineering of processes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day financial management of both group and divisional finance teams, ensuring operational finance functions run efficiently and effectively.
  • Business Risk & Compliance: Ensure a robust internal control environment, mitigating financial risks and ensuring adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Play a key role in the organisation’s ongoing M&A strategy, conducting financial due diligence and integrating newly acquired businesses.
  • Debt Finance Support: Provide financial oversight and expertise in debt finance raising initiatives, ensuring the business is well-capitalised to support its growth trajectory.
  • Financial Reporting & Control: Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting to key stakeholders, ensuring clarity and confidence in financial performance.
  • Commercial Decision-Making: Work closely with the board to drive strategic initiatives, proactively manage the P&L and balance sheet, and support business-wide financial decision-making.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and inspire a talented finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Process Optimisation & Systems Enhancement: Refine and develop internal management reporting systems, drive automation and efficiency in finance processes, and implement best-in-class financial controls.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and oversee the production of annual budgets and monthly profit & cash flow forecasts, ensuring financial sustainability and growth planning.
Key Experience and Skills
  • Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Previous consumer service sector industry experience a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing a Finance team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent Excel & IT skills
