Trainee Healthcare Support Worker (New to Care)

You will: Develop an understanding of the role of a Healthcare Support Worker and be able to carry out delegated nursing care under supervision of registered nurse or experienced Healthcare Support Worker. Develop an understanding of holistic person-centred care, including the relationship between physical health and mental health.
Learn and practice the principles of confidentiality, dignity, privacy and respect for patients. Develop an understanding of a patients journey/pathway through the relevant service. Gain experience by participating in activities to meet occupational needs of the patients.
Participate in training and gain experience related to delivery of personal care. Participate in training and gain experience undertaking, recording and reporting patients physical health observations. Participate in training and gain experience in patient safety observations and related policy.
Participate in assisting qualified staff in emergency procedures and first aid. Where appropriate undertake safety intervention training. Understand the need to report any untoward incidence or accidents to the Registered Nurse. Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberties and applies principles to everyday practice seeking advice / guidance from the Registered Nurse or registered care professional as required.
