Main duties of the job
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with expert radiotherapy knowledge and technical skills to lead the radiotherapy treatment team. As a manager you will need to demonstrate good organisational skills, have extensive experience of managing people, the ability to work flexibly and have a high level of personal resilience and problem solving.
As a technical expert and manager of the treatment team, you will be expected to lead and contribute to implementing key technical changes and in addition reviewing current processes to streamline treatment delivery and patient pathways.
You will support on-going professional development of staff and maintain their own portfolio of practice. The post holder will also contribute to maintaining the radiotherapy BSI accreditation and ensure that all patients receive an outstanding quality of service.
Working for our organisation
We are a small department comprising of two matched VERSA Elekta Linacs, Mosaiq Oncology Management System, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System (TPS) and Canon Aquilion CT Scanner which was installed early 2024. The department actively participates in clinical trials.Lung SABR Treatment commenced in 2021 and is expanding such that we are in the process of commissioning Bone and Nodal Treatments which are expected to start in early 2024.
We have exciting future plans which involve implementing SGRT early 2024 and the commissioning of a new TPS. Long term plans will involve preparing for back-to-back Linac replacement programs.

- Maintain and develop staff competencies in the application of Radiotherapy treatment delivery by ensuring staff are up to date with all new techniques, offering accurate and safe delivery of treatment.
- Ensure the provision of a quality service which meets the needs of individual patients and their carers attending the department.
- Undertakes audit as part of Quality Management Team and supports the Head of Radiotherapy regarding service development initiatives as appropriate.
- Be responsible for initiating a response to an emergency radiation incident within the service as required.
- To act as Radiation Protection Supervisor for the radiotherapy treatment area.
- To act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around us and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity
- To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients need and be adaptable and responsive
- To provide high-quality radiotherapy treatment delivery which complies with relevant legislation and NHS standards

- Help to develop and foster a learning environment where feedback is welcomed and valued
- To be aware of the performance, quality and financial position of the service and in liaison with the senior leadership team, ensure good budgetary control, ensuring efficient use of resources and contributing to service development and improvements.
- To be responsible for maintaining an environment conducive to delivering and maintaining high-quality, patient-centred radiotherapy treatment, fostering effective communication and relationships between all levels of TSDFT staff, patients, relatives, and visitors.

Essential
Essential criteria- DCR(T) or BSC(Hons)Therapeutic
- Radiography with HCPC registration.
- Evidence of post qualification study and achievement to Masters Level
- PgDip/master’s level modules or equivalent experience in advanced technologies
- Management qualification
- MSc relating to Radiotherapy
