About The Role
Morrison Water Services part of the M Group Services Water Division are the leading service provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sectors in the UK. We employ C.2800 people across the UK and we are looking for ambitious individuals who are keen to build their career within the Water Sector.
We are currently recruiting for a proactive individual to work as a SHEQ Adviser on our DV2 Lot 4 Programme in between our offices at Stepps, and Westfield. This role will require travel throughout Scotland and will involve overnight stays.Working across Scotland the purpose of the SHEQ Adviser is to actively support the business on SHEQ matters by conducting regular site visits and engaging with the site teams identifying areas for improvement and providing practical and pragmatic solutions.
Morrison Water Services were awarded the framework contract in May 2021 by Scottish Water with a start date of July 2021 and services provided within the contract are capital (planned & reactive) projects associated with non-infrastructure assets (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control).The term of the contract of for 6 years with a Scottish Water option to extend by a further 6 years covering SR21 and SR27
The role is to provide professional advice and support on all SHEQ matters to all levels of employees within Morrison Water Services DV2 Lot 4 programme to meet legal responsibilities and to promote best practice. To monitor compliance in line with Health, Safety and Environment legislation and procedures.
As the SHEQ Advisor your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Provide support, advice and guidance to management and site teams
- Supporting the production and delivery of safety alerts, presentations & briefings where required to raise awareness.
- Support the site/project teams in compliance with CDM.
- Assist in the production of operational documentation – RAMS, CPP, etc. advising how risks could be reduced.
- Assist and support the review of Contractors RAMS
- Undertake regular site inspections/audits of sites to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and contract processes are being suitably implemented (out of hours whenever necessary)
- Identify gaps in the management system and make recommendations for improvements, implement and then ensure operations are being compliant.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our performance
- Manage the production and communication of incident and accident investigations and provide Root Cause Analysis reports as directed.
- Deliver internal SHEQ related training.
- Write compliant procedures to ISO standards.
- Develop and implement new initiatives.
- Communicate and advise on new working practices in line with new legislation requirements and best practice.
- Ensure that Health and Safety legislation is implemented and adhered to.
- Where applicable carry out systematic assessments of hazards and develop improved working methods
- Education/Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Full UK driving licence.
- ISO Auditor desirable
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of legislative requirements and best practice in safety, health, environment, and quality
- Experience of audits, inspections and recommending preventative action
- Experience of CDM Regulations
- Ability to influence.
- Environmental Qualifications – desirable
- Strong communicator with an ability to manage SHEQ matters.
- Strong analytical and IT skills with the ability to produce plans, spreadsheets, reports, alerts and presentations.
- Experienced SHEQ professional in operating in large projects with the ability to strategically champion the contractual SHEQ plans.
