The Role

Required for a September 2025 start, we are seeking to appoint a dedicated, well-qualified and highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our SEN Team.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our students to overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and other stakeholders, leading target intervention sessions in key subjects across the secondary age range and providing feedback on student progress.

They will need to establish and maintain strong working relationships with students, their families and external agencies.

The working pattern for this position is Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm. You will be working school term time plus one week which equates to 39 working weeks per year.

The Academy

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion.

The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

  • Has curriculum knowledge and experience to support and lead learning activities for students.
  • Has some experience of planning, preparing and delivering work to specified groups of students and/or whole classes.
  • Has excellent communication skills.
  • Has the ability to stay calm under pressure and manage unexpected challenges.
  • Is able to support students with their sensory needs, emotional regulation and social communication skills.
  • Is able to effectively communicate with students, parents and staff.
  • Is keen to make a difference to the education of OBA students.
