Location: Newcastle upon TyneSalary: £35,235 - £38,626 per annum
The Role
The City Council are seeking an experienced time served Heavy Goods Vehicle technician to take up a permanent position.
The council maintains and repairs a diverse range of vehicles, plant and horticultural equipment as well as having two MOT stations, testing class 4,5 & 7 vehicles, licenced taxis and hackney carriages.
You will join the team, primarily in their Heavy workshop at Newington Rd.
Skills and Qualifications
They are looking for someone with the skills and experience to achieve the effective and efficient maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the council’s plant, horticultural equipment & Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) fleet, including an understanding of VOSA standards enabling them to prepare & present LGV’s for MOT.
- You will have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- A category B driving licence is essential. Categories C LGV licence or hold a valid MOT tester qualification being advantageous.
- 25 days annual leave (rising to 29 days after 5 years’ service) plus public bank holidays
- Monday to Friday 37 hour week
