We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Band 5 rotation scheme.

Rotations are offered across hospital and community settings, and you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and knowledge within a wide range of specialist teams.

Main duties of the job

Participate in the rotational scheme working in a range of hospital and community settings across the health and social care community, working as an autonomous practitioner within your scope of practice and in accordance with your job plan.

Be responsible for your continuing professional development, actively participating in supervision, peer support and training and development programmes.

Manage a caseload including prioritisation and delegation of work to therapy assistants, performing patient assessments and making a clinical judgement of the patient’s needs. Develop, implement, evaluate and modify patient treatment programmes ensuring relevant pathways of care are followed in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team with onward referral to other agencies as appropriate.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records complying with Trust policies and procedures, upholding statutory, Royal College of Occupational Therapists, and HCPC standards and codes of professional conduct.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc/MSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Educators accreditation

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists / British Association of Occupational Therapists

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of experience at undergraduate level including managing medical, surgical, neurological and mental health conditions.
  • Experience of working within a team and independently with support
  • Uses examples to demonstrate a clear knowledge and understanding of the NHS.
Desirable criteria
  • Undergraduate experience gained in both a hospital and community NHS setting.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Shows evidence of clinical reasoning skills demonstrating knowledge of medical, surgical, neurological, mental health conditions and discharge planning skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes.
