Our client, a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to take pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented learning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school site, supporting with general maintenance, health and safety checks, security, and liaising with contractors as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the site is clean, safe, and secure at all times
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
- Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems
- Open and lock up the school daily, including setting alarms
- Support the school with setup for events and deliveries
- Conduct regular site checks and health and safety assessments
- Liaise with external contractors and services as needed
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, or maintenance role (desirable)
- Strong DIY and problem-solving skills
- A proactive and trustworthy attitude
- Awareness of health and safety regulations
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the school
