Paediatric Outpatients Healthcare Assistant
Part-time position (25 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
Band 2: £23,615 pro rata, per annum (£15,743 for part-time)
We are seeking an enthusiastic support worker to join our dedicated Children's Outpatient Department. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and possess excellent communication skills across a range of ages and abilities.If you are passionate about providing high-quality care and support to children and their families, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
To deal with face-to-face, e-mail and telephone enquiries, re-directing to others as appropriate, and recording and prioritising messages.
Communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of the clinic, keeping the patient informed of changes and delays at all times.
To prepare consultation rooms in readiness for clinics and investigations undertaking general housekeeping duties.
Prepare clinic including notes and results.
Obtain specimens of body fluids as requested by the qualified nurse on completion of the internal training day and competency pack.
Assist in the monitoring of patients’ blood pressure, temperature, pulse, ECG, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation on completion of the internal training and competency pack.
Assisting with blood clinics and the taking of blood.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria- Good Basic Education. NVQ 2
- Ability to use Word, Email and hospital internet systems
- Experience of direct care in health or social care setting
- Experience of working with children
- NVQ 3
- Evidence of own personal development
