Job overview
The Emergency Department at the Royal London Hospital is one of the busiest in London and is situated in the historic East End of London and after your working day you can enjoy the atmosphere of Brick Lane or Shoreditch and Hoxton.
We are situated in a purpose built hospital on the Royal London Site offering an improved environment for our patients and staff and giving the opportunity to develop new ways of working. We are one of four designated Major Trauma Centres for London.Our merger with Newham and Whipps Cross promises more opportunity to develop working practices and share best practice. We have close links with City University London and LSBU and are committed to the professional growth and development of our staff.
We also operate the Minor Injuries Unit at St Bart’s Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in the country and in the heart of the City of London.
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic experienced Qualified Emergency Nurse Practitioners to join our team.You will be an excellent communicator with both adults and children and have demonstrable experience in the emergency setting. You will be expected to deliver high quality care, be able to work autonomously and promote and maintain high standards of nursing care within the current service.
Main duties of the job
▪ Leads by example as an experienced Senior Nurse/Nurse Practitioner providing organisation and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team.▪ To provide the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
▪ Working autonomously, within scope of practice, and develop care plan for patients presenting to ED and MIU with undifferentiated minor injuries.
▪ Facilitates and provides education, expertise and mentorship to peers and other members of staff (nursing and medical teams).
▪ Ensures working relationships are upheld with other healthcare professionals, internal and external, to the working environment.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered Nurse.
- Minor Injuries course, or equivalent.
- ILS/PILS or equivalent
- ED Nursing course (e.g. Level 2 ED nursing competencies)
- Management and leadership course, or equivalent.
- Suturing course, or equivalent.
- Plastering course, or equivalent.
- Appraisal course, or equivalent.
- Mentorship course, or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrates extensive skills in provision of emergency care at a Band 6 level or above.
- Experience in minor injuries management in a primary care setting/ED or MIU.
- Experience in providing formal teaching
- Experience of policy development and review.
- Experience working as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge Able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of professional nursing issues in minor injuries care.
- Demonstrates ongoing learning and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to evaluate effectiveness of learning activities and identify areas for improvement.
