Band 6 - Paediatric Dietitian, Nutrition and Dietetics
Job overview
We have an opportunity for a Paediatric Dietitian to join our team at Watford General Hospital.
You will be part of a team of three Paediatric Dietitians covering a range of specialisms including neonates, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, allergy, and gastroenterology.
Our team consists of 17 Dietitians, both adult and paediatric, supporting a variety of inpatient wards across the hospitals.
Main duties of the job
You will develop the paediatric dietetic service along with the lead paediatric dietitian and work within multidisciplinary setting to enable the provision of best practice.
The post holder will be involved in specialist clinics, group education sessions and will act as a source of expertise.
The department is involved in the training and supervision of student dietitians and the training of other healthcare professionals. There are also opportunities for course funding both externally and through the department’s links with the University of Hertfordshire.

Person specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential criteria- Nutrition & Dietetics degree or equivalent.
- HCPC registered.
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
- Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. Paediatric course.
Knowledge:
Essential criteria- Specialist knowledge of managing children with Diabetes, in Neonatal Unit, Cystic fibrosis, cardiac babies, gastroenterology, Diabetes and food allergies.
Experience:
Essential criteria- Post registration clinical experience.
- Experience in Paediatrics.
- Up to date knowledge of all aspects of paediatric management of children with diabetes.
- Extensive clinical experience of working with children with diabetes and their families/carers.
- Involvement in relevant specialist interest groups e.g. Paediatric Group.
