Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a passionate and dynamic health care assistant to work in an award winning team in the Day Surgery Unit and Recovery in the Princess Anne Hospital.
As part of the Women and Newborn care group, Day Surgery Unit is a small friendly unit in charge of admission and discharge of patients undergoing gynaecology and breast surgeries, from simple to more complex procedures. It enjoys the compliment of a very experienced and organised team of both registered nurses and health care assistants, with the clinical expertise to care and look after our patients pre and post-operatively.
As a Health Care Assistant you will have a fantastic opportunity to develop both your clinical competence and experience, and will also be supported in the development of your nursing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced health care assistant who is passionate in providing the highest standard care; dynamic and organized team player.The department operates from 7am to 10pm where shifts are divided to cover the whole service from Monday to Saturday.
You will be a member of peri-operative team providing basic nursing care for our patients. You will always work in a team environment. Please see the job description for more details.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Level 3 apprenticeship in healthcare, NVQ 3 in care or equivalent, or working towards
- Venesection
- Experience within a surgical pre-operative assessment service or women’s health.
Previous or relevant experience
Essential criteria- Previous HCA experience.
- Logical and consistent work and career pattern.
- Experience within a surgical pre-operative assessment service or women’s health.
