Resource Controller

Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Resource Controller, this role will utilise geographical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure that our train services are staffed appropriately to meet customer orders efficiently and on time. This involves coordinating with train crew members to fill shifts while verifying their competence and availability.

You will be responsible for making necessary adjustments to train plans and effectively communicating any resulting impacts to key business stakeholders.

Additionally, you will contribute to developing a long-term strategy for addressing future staffing needs.

This role can be based in Peterborough or Doncaster and has a 9-5 shift pattern including working some weekends. The salary on offer for this role is £38,000-£40,000

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective staffing of train crew vacancies.
  • Review rosters to maximize resource efficiency and performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the Crewplan system and ensure all changes are communicated to relevant departments.
  • Adapt train plans on short notice to cover vacancies.
  • Coordinate with train crew to fill vacancies using the most effective methods.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess business needs and explore alternative solutions for staffing
requirements.
  • Provide feedback to planning and control teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Consider the impact of fatigue when allocating resources to cover vacancies.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills

  • Understanding of railway operations.
  • Experience in a control environment.
  • Confidence in challenging existing resource plans to drive improvements.
