An exciting opportunity has arisen at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust to become a Quality Improvement Lead. The team are leading the trust on its Quality Improvement journey. We are currently growing and shaping our quality improvement (QI) strategy, which supports our aspiration to provide high quality, safe and clinically effective care for our service users, through a process of continual improvement and learning.

This position offers an opportunity for an individual with experience in improvement to contribute to the trust’s vision of incorporating quality improvement into our culture, our way of working and supporting organisational change.

In summary, the Quality Improvement lead will provide leadership to teams across the trust to ensure delivery of a number of complex quality improvement change programs to drive continuous improvements in service delivery, using the GMMH adopted QI methodology.

They will be an ambassador for Quality Improvement across the Trust and provide expertise, advice, education and support to ensure that improvements are delivered effectively and for the benefits of patients and staff.

The post holder will be part of the GMMH QI team based in the Nursing & Quality directorate, at Prestwich. They will be required to support staff and service users/carers trust wide.

The post has a key role in supporting the Trust to meet its vision of incorporating Quality Improvement into our culture, our way of working, and supporting organisational change.

The team collaborates with staff, service users/carers across the Trust to facilitate the use of QI methodology for improvement. The team is responsible for developing the Trust QI capability. They will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver and have oversight of multiple projects.

The post holder needs to work autonomously and to support teams with improvement plans and initiatives. The post holder will have a pivotal role in ensuring safety is at the heart of everything we do. They will be expected to seek out good practice related to QI in the NHS and apply this in a consistent way across the Trust.

They will take ownership of data within work-streams ensuring that we measure, monitor and evaluate outputs to ensure that improvements are delivered effectively and for the benefits of service users/carers and staff.

The post holder will have leadership experience demonstrating the ability to line manage, coach and develop colleagues. It is essential that they have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with staff, service users/carers and external stakeholders.

Essential requirements for the post include: A recognised Quality Improvement qualification. Prior experience of service re-design or quality improvement initiatives. Experience of leading change in complex systems. Knowledge and experience of the principles and application of improvement methodologies such as LEAN, collaborative models, PDSA and process mapping.

The ability to analyse performance data, assess projects, identifying areas for collaborative working to improve outcomes. The ability to travel independently to meetings/events across the Trust footprint to meet the needs of the service. See Job description for further details.
