Role: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Meath School, Chertsey, Surrey
Salary: £33,809 -£37,157 per annum dependent on experience

Working Pattern: Permanent contract, Full time (35 hours per week), 42 weeks per year (term time plus up to 3 weeks of work during school closure periods to be used flexibly throughout the year) with 10 weeks paid holiday. Part time applications will also be considered.

Role Overview:

Meath School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This role involves managing a caseload of pupils with severe and complex speech, language, and communication needs. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff and families, contribute to curriculum development, and make a meaningful impact on pupils’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload, conducting assessments, devising therapy programs, and writing reports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support students’ learning.
  • Deliver therapy sessions, including group work and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) planning.
  • Contribute to the development of a communication-rich school environment.
  • Provide training to staff and parents, sharing your expertise to enhance pupil outcomes.

Participate in professional development, ensuring best practices are upheld.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Qualifications: Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC/RCSLT registration.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified SLT, ideally within a school setting and working with paediatric caseloads.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with experience in administering assessments and managing a varied caseload.

Knowledge: A strong understanding of severe and complex speech and language disorders, as well as familiarity with AAC and dysphagia practices.
