Are you ready to lead a transformative project that will shape the future of a historic 300,000-object collection? Do you have the leadership skills to drive innovation and collaboration in a dynamic museum environment?

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic leader to join us at the National Collections Centre (NCC - Wroughton) during an exciting and transformative period. This interim position, covering maternity leave until October 2025, will have an integral part in shaping the future of the NCC and delivering key projects.

You will lead and inspire the Storage and Logistics teams, as well as oversee the delivery and colleagues of the NCC's Consolidation Project. This project involves the occupation of new state-of-the-art storage facilities and the careful phased vacation of older buildings, with completion set for December 2025.

Your leadership will also be essential in developing and refining systems and processes that enable teams working with collections to operate more efficiently. These collections play a crucial role across the Science Museum Group, contributing to exhibitions, Masterplan projects, online resources, loans to other organisations, and research activities.

Ensuring that these systems support these varied uses will be a key focus, as you establish a collaborative culture that supports effective operational delivery.

As a champion for the NCC within the Science Museum Group, you will be instrumental in connecting the site with wider projects and initiatives, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of the Group's activities. With the further consolidation of collections and an increasing emphasis on public engagement, 2025 promises to be a busy and exciting year.

Your vision and leadership will be critical in navigating these developments!

While the role is based at the NCC, there may be occasional travel to any of the Science Museum Group's museums as part of your remit to support and engage with the wider Group.

Fixed term contract until Oct 2025

Salary: £48,000 - £53,000
