NCIC is working in partnership with The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. This will offer potential opportunities to support rural and remote medicine as well as help "grow our own" medical workforce within Cumbria.
The post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle but the post holder will be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
On-calls within General Medicine would also be available if desired by the candidate.
Relocation assistance of up to £8,000 may be available for successful applicants moving to the region.
Please note: You must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of your CCT in order to be eligible for appointment to this level of post.
Main duties of the job
Applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work full or part time in Rheumatology. In the course of his/her work the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work and administrative staff.
An educational supervisor will be assigned to provide support. Appraisal and Job Planning is carried out at regular intervals, and forwarded to the specialty lead. The programme of training for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and stage of training.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria- Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
- Entry on the GMC specialist register via relevant CCT, MRCP(UK) (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), relevant CESR or European Community Rights
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- An appropriate higher qualification
- Proof of competency in emergency and elective index cases
- Fellow of College of Physicians
- Sub-speciality training
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria- High level of clinical experience and competence in rheumatology
- Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- A commitment to, and experience of teaching
- An interest in developing links with Acute Medicine or Primary Care
Management and Admin
Essential criteria- Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of the service.
