Child Support Worker
Location: Various community settingsPay Rate: £15-£18 per hour (+ mileage paid on shift)
Potential Earnings: Up to £345 for a 24-hour long day sleep shift
Shift Patterns:
- Long Day: 8am-8pm
- Waking Night: 8pm-8am
- Long Day with Sleep In: 8am-11pm (followed by a sleep-in shift)
We are currently seeking Child Support Workers to join our team, offering both immediate start opportunities and block shift bookings - including options for 2, 3, 4, or 5 consecutive long-day sleep shifts.
As a Child Support Worker, you will provide essential care and support to young people aged 8-18 with a variety of complex needs, including mental health challenges and disabilities. Working on a minimum 2:1 basis, you will focus on ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of the young service users within their communities.
Key Responsibilities:- Offering both physical and emotional support to vulnerable children.
- Assisting with the completion of care plans, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
- Supporting daily routines, from household tasks to external activities.
- Managing money alongside the young person, ensuring all transactions are recorded.
- Engaging in activities to encourage independence and learning.
- Recording detailed notes on the young person's emotional wellbeing, interactions, conversations, food diaries, and routines.
- Identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns.
- Maintaining professional relationships with the local authority, the young person's family, and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
- Emotional resilience and a patient, non-judgemental approach.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- A commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people.
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a relevant subject (preferred).
- A valid DBS certificate (or a willingness to obtain one).
- A full UK driving licence (preferred) due to the range of locations.
