Senior Midwifery Manager

Job overview
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, dynamic senior midwife who will provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the wider multi-professional team for maternity services at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board for fetal surveillance and intrapartum risk assessment.This will include putting in place strategies and frameworks that ensure the Maternity service meets all Health Board and national standards .
Main duties of the job
The person appointed to this role will work collaboratively with the Head of Midwifery and other Health Board leads as well as regional/national forums to share best practice and build a supportive network. Internally, they will promote, through leadership modelling, a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure best practice in the delivery of patient care, ensuring systems support improvements in clinical quality and are aligned to Health Board processes and standards.They will provide clinically credible, visible and compassionate leadership across the maternity service within the Princess of Wales Hospital site.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate collaborative working with individual staff along with the wider women’s health management team and be able to establish strong relationships with clinical and managerial leaders to ensure that operational delivery is patient centred.As a senior midwife you will review, influence and lead the development and implementation of policies and audits, organise learning and teaching of the multi-disciplinary team and ensure the key performance indicators are achieved and reported to a range of stakeholders.
Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria- RM at degree level or equivalent with evidence of further professional development.
- Attended a clinical leadership program
- Human Factors Training.
Experience
Essential criteria- Evidence of leadership roles and skills
- Evidence of managing staff and dealing with difficult situations in a non-confrontational manner.
- Has worked at a senior level within maternity services.
- Experience of managing staff appraisal
- Recent experience of successful change management
