We have an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking and positive team as East Renfrewshire’s new Chief Planner and Building Standards Manager. East Renfrewshire is one of Scotland’s fastest-growing regions, with an attractive environment encompassing vibrant towns and tranquil rural areas, all within the influence of the wider Glasgow City Region.

This brings a broad range of interesting planning and development challenges. As part of this role you will be responsible for all aspects of strategic and development planning, development management and building standards within the Council’s Environment Department.

We need someone who will promote a positive culture of innovation and empowerment and a strong focus on partnership working, including with elected members. You will be committed to the delivery of customer-focused services. You will be instrumental in leading a place-based approach to development and investment.

You will have a relevant professional qualification and experience of leading and delivering a diverse portfolio of high profile services and a proven track record of success gained in a multi-disciplinary environment in an organisation of significant size.

Ideally you will also have an understanding of the possibilities of using digital technologies to transform service delivery.
  • Depending upon the needs of the service, staff in Hybrid roles will typically work from home for up to 40-60% of the time where the needs of the service can still be met.
