We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist with managerial and clinical experience to join our Clinical Neuropsychology Service. The post involves working with adults who have experienced a stroke in Canterbury and the surrounding areas.
The clinical work is undertaken mostly in clinic settings although some home visits and travel to care homes will be required. The post holder will also provide line management and clinical supervision to other staff within the service and work closely with the neuropsychology senior management team to deliver high-quality and responsive services within Kent.

As a service, we actively pursue opportunities to contribute to relevant neuropsychology projects and collaborations regionally and nationally and offer opportunities to develop special interests and expertise.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessment rehabilitation and psychological therapy to adults who have suffered a stroke and have been referred to the Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service.

The post holder will work closely with the local Community Neurorehabilitation Teams who are positive and supportive of neuropsychology .

The post holder will formulate and implement plans of specialist neuropsychological treatment of stroke based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice.

Undertake a range of psychological therapeutic interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models.

Be responsible for providing a specialist neuropsychological perspective into the multi-disciplinary assessment of adults with stroke and their families.

Work as a member of Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service.

Be responsible for clinical supervision and professional management of other psychology staff.

Person specification

Skills and Training

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • HCPC Registration Practitioner Psychologist
  • Additional Training /CPD Neuropsychology
  • Training in Supervision Skills
Desirable criteria
  • Further formal qualifications in Neuropsychology or a related field eg QICN

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of working with people with stroke/ brain injury or other neurological conditions
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary Teams
  • Four years clinical experience since qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in Stroke Specific Services Community and or In-patient Services

Management Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing and supervision of clinical staff
  • Experience of supervising psychology staff
Desirable criteria
  • Training in management
