The Role
To help to support the Exams Team in providing an effective Examinations service.
We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice. As part of this apprenticeship, you will be undertaking a Level 3 Business Administration qualification, enabling you to build valuable skills and knowledge for a successful career in administration.
You will work alongside a supportive and friendly team, where you will have the chance to contribute to key administrative functions while also learning from experienced colleagues. The Exams Department has three experienced members of staff who are responsible for the smooth running of all external examinations (and four sets of internal examinations) across college and extending to LUSOM.This includes everything from registrations and entries, preparing for exam days, the exam days themselves, post results services and final certificates. This is a busy area of college, and we work with lots of stakeholders – students and their parents, staff across college including teachers, learning support, achievement tutors, networks and estates, and also the awarding bodies.
We adhere to strict rules and regulations regarding confidential and secure materials and so excellent organisation and close attention to detail are essential to our work. The main duties and responsibilities of this role include providing an accurate, efficient data processing and administrative service within the Examinations team, liaising with students, Additional Support, Awarding Organisations and the curriculum and processing entries to and results from Awarding Organisations via the college database and Awarding Organisation websites.For the full job description please see attached ‘Job Pack’.
The Successful Candidate

The Exams department is looking for someone who has excellent organisation skills and pays close attention to detail, a good working knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook etc, is able to input data accurately, can work under pressure and meet deadlines and can co-operate, collaborate and communicate effectively with college staff, both from within and outside the department.
You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time plus 4 weeks. Starting and finishing times as agreed.
Salary:
In line with the Government minimum wage rates:
Pro rata to £16,591.90 (age 18-20), actual salary £15,784.32
Pro rata to £22,071.09 (age 21 and over), actual salary £20,996.82
The salary will increase pro rata to £24,309.07 after one year (actual salary £23,125.22 per annum).
