The Role
The Solutions Architect is key to shaping new technology product at Fora. They do this by designing, developing and implementing new solutions within the technology estate that deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions in response to business requirements.They will work simultaneously across multiple solutions and projects, collaborating closely with the rest of the Technology team and wider business units.
The role requires an innovative mindset, careful attention to detail, a strong understanding of how to manage risk, and the ability to develop and communicate clear, concise and well documented technology solutions for a wide range of stakeholders and customers.
Key Responsibilities
You will have a background in technology solutions architecture, working on application delivery, infrastructure and integration projects. And have a understanding of TOGAF, Zachman, or similar architectural frameworks, Agile, DevOps, and ITIL practices.
- Work closely and collaboratively with business analysts, technology specialists and internal stakeholders to develop comprehensive technology solutions that align with business and technology strategy.
- Specify, design, and select appropriate technologies, including open-source, cloud-native, SaaS, and licensed software solutions.
- Define and enforce best practices, standards, and frameworks for solution architecture, ensuring solutions adhere to organisational standards for security, data protection, compliance, and service quality.
- Develop and maintain architectural documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs), system architectures, and interface specifications.
- Organise, facilitate and document Solution Architecture Workshops as required to develop solutions that meet business objectives and strategic requirements.
- Create and maintain Application and Data maps of the current and future state of the technology estate.
- Define and document system interfaces, data models and infrastructure from a conceptual, logical and technology basis.
- Work closely with the Delivery Team (PM/BA/QA) to develop and document rigourous and thorough success crieria, user stories, project tasks, test plans and acceptance criteria.
- 7+ years experience as a Solutions Architect working in complex SME technology environments
- Experience of system development and integration projects with budgets of £100k to >£2mln
- Experience working as the lead solution architect within medium sized technology teams (e.g. tech teams of 25 – 100 people)
- Experience as the primary architectural point of contact for stakeholders, leading solution design across technology
- Experience designing elegant and effective technology solutions for user groups of between 50 – 50,000 people
- Degree or equivalent, preferably in computer science or another STEM subject is desirable
- Certifications in Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification is desirable
