Moorfields is world renowned eye hospital with an excellent international reputation. We have provided excellence in eye care for more than 200 years and we continue to be at the forefront of new breakthroughs and developments.

It is home to the London Ocular Oncology Service, one of the oldest Ocular Oncology Services in the world. In 1997 the Ocular Oncology Services in London, Liverpool and Sheffield were designated as Centres of Excellence by the National Commissioning Group.

This allowed expertise to be concentrated in these designated centres for the benefit of our patients.

TheAdult Ocular Oncology Service is currently under the direction of Professor Sagoo whereas the Retinoblastoma service, based at the Royal London Hospital, is directed by Mr Reddy. These supra-regional services accept tertiary referrals from all over UK.

The VR service treats conditions at the back of the eye which often require surgical intervention. A large part of the service are the VR emergencies (VRE) seen in dedicated emergency clinics and operated on emergency theatre lists.

The Vitreo-retinal Service is currently under the direction of Professor Lyndon da Cruz and consists of 9 consultants. It is further supported by two North Thames Specialist Registrars (Fellows) sub-specialising in Vitreo-retinal, five Vitreo-retinal Fellows and five Specialist Registrars.
