Band 3 - Activity Coordinator - Part time

We are looking for an enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with great creativity and passion. Ideally you will also have experience of working with older people who are experiencing mental health issues, but this is not mandatory. An NVQ level 3 or significant experience within a healthcare role is required.

Situated in Farnham Road Hospital in Guilford; Victoria Ward is an acute assessment and treatment ward specialising in the care of Older Adults with functional mental health disorders.

We are a 20-bedded inpatient ward and we have an experienced and dedicated team which is passionate about giving high quality, person centred care.

This Activity Coordinator role is ward-based and the person appointed to the role will be an integral part of the Occupational Therapy team as well as the wider multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities will include delivering safe, meaningful and personalised activities to all the patients whilst they are on the ward.

Excellent communication skills and confident use of IT are key to this role.

We are committed to continuous learning and development.

Main duties of the job
  • Organise, lead, and promote interest in recreational activities in an inclusive, stimulating, and safe environment.
  • Ascertain and interpret group interests, evaluate equipment and facilities, and adapt activities to meet individual participant needs.
  • Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
  • Develop positive relationships with participants.
  • To adopt a pragmatic and non-judgmental approach.
  • To provide structured opportunities for people to relax and socialise.

You will be working in an organisation that fosters an inclusive culture, where we will treat each other with compassion and kindness. You will be able to grow your career here and we have dedicated pathways to enable you to do this. We will support your personal and professional growth through our extensive training opportunities.

We strive to offer a great work life balance - if you are looking for full time, part time or flexible options, we will try to make this work where operationally possible. We are committed to the health and well-being of our employees to create a positive work-life balance, along with a broad range of benefits.

Our values are at the heart of what we do, and they shape the way we interact, develop our colleagues, and celebrate success.
