A Vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

An excellent opportunity has arisen within Acute Services at Cambridge University Hospital for an Advanced Occupational Therapy Team Lead. The role would have a particular focus on delivering an Occupational Therapy service to older people within the hospital, particularly the frail elderly.

This is an exciting time to join Acute Services as new models of care and closer working relationships with Physiotherapists are being further developed. In addition, the service strives to foster effective relationships with Community Services in order to aid patient care on discharge.

We are looking for an innovative team player to lead the team, manage the day to day running of service and enable the optimal timely flow of patients through the hospital.

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with highly developed clinical skills. You will undertake a Team Leader role within Acute Care and thus take a lead role in initiating, planning, implementing and leading the service developments in an Occupational Therapy Team on a day-to-day basis.

You will provide occupational therapy to patients, working autonomously and without direct supervision. You will ensure safe and effective delivery of occupational therapy and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and agency teams and the Professional Lead and Divisional Service Leads in Occupational Therapy.

You will also work closely with the Divisions to reduce length of stay and readmission rates.

CUH’s values – Together - Safe, Kind, Excellent – are at the heart of patient care, defining the way all staff work and behave.

We welcome applications for all positions in the organisation irrespective of people’s age, disability, ethnicity, race, nationality, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnership status, or pregnancy and maternity status or social economic background.

With excellent leadership capabilities, you will support your colleagues to maintain high standards of clinical performance and collaboratively take forward service development projects as the service evolves.

As a Clinical Educator, you will play a significant role in educating others in delivering Occupational Therapy to Older People, demonstrating an expert knowledge of Frailty, Cognitive Impairment and Manual Handling.

If you have the experience and skills of working with Older Adults and are keen to develop the Occupational Therapy role within this patient group, then this is the job for you.

In return we can offer you a friendly and supportive environment in which to develop and excel in your career. In addition we have an excellent Training Programme and a yearly Research Symposium.

Please see the attached Applicant Information Pack (combined Job Description and Person Specification) for key duties and responsibilities.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:
  • applied for a Graduate visa
