Finance Assistant - 6-Month Maternity Cover

Office Angels is currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a well-established organisation for a 6-month maternity cover position. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a busy, friendly, and supportive finance team where you'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations.

This role is fully office-based in Hebburn, where you'll be supporting credit control processes, managing invoices, and assisting with financial reporting.
  • Location: On-site in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear - free on-site parking!
  • Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 p.a. (pro rata, depending on experience)
  • Start Date: ASAP

Contract length: approx. 6 months

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9AM - 5PM, 37/5 hours per week, with the option to work from home after training - flexible working pattern to be discussed and agreed with line manager

Key Responsibilities

✔ Supporting the finance team in prioritising payment collections to maintain cash flow and minimise bad debt. This is predominantly email based!

✔ Maintaining the Aged Debt Report, providing updates to the Finance Leadership Team, and escalating issues when needed.

✔ Invoice & Payments Processing…
✔ Liaising with internal teams and customers via phone and email to resolve discrepancies.
✔ Assisting with filing, maintaining financial records, and supporting audits.
✔Helping with financial reports and summaries, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

✔ Cash Posting - Ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.

What We're Looking For

✅ Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
  • Previous experience in a finance-related role (finance, accounts, credit control, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated & proactive with a strong sense of accountability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience with Business Central and Microsoft Great Plains (preferred but not essential)
