Band 4 Medical Secretary (Oncology)

This is a part-time post for 30 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the busy but rewarding Oncology team.

The successful applicant will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients’ pathway of care.

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive management of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly.

Working closely with many clinical and non-clinical professionals, the successful candidate will work autonomously to deliver excellent care and support to their colleagues and patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will specifically be responsible for providing administration support for the Harm Review process.

The post holder has responsibility for ensuring that the patient cancer pathways are monitored in accordance with the government national cancer waiting times targets. The Post holder will have responsibility for actively escalating any patient that is at risk of breaching and having an up to date knowledge of all the patients on the urgent suspected cancer pathway.

The post holder has responsibility for coordinating and organising the activities of the Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT) and team meetings. This will include liaising with all the departments that are involved in providing care and core services to cancer patients.
