Job overview

The aims of the department are to provide a high quality, customer focused, cost effective, and well-presented service, providing a service to staff, visitors and patients. The post holder will, ensuring the correct and economical use of materials and equipment.

The post holder will be able to work with / without supervision in a busy restaurant, at the stated place of work, but may be asked to work at any of the Trust’s Catering outlets should the situation arise.

Main duties of the job
  1. Setting up the counter for the days service
  2. Checking all floats making sure they are correct at the start of service
  3. Serving customers of hot and cold meals and preparing deli sandwiches in a friendly helpful manor
  4. Stocking shelves, fridges and ensuring stock levels area maintained
  5. The correct storage and rotation of stock, and maintenance of minimum/maximum stock level
  6. Producing barosta syle coffee as required
  7. Temperature probing of sandwiches and hot food items and the recording of temperatures in accordance with department HACCP procedures
  8. Completion of any appropriate documentation to ensure legal compliance.
  9. The cleaning of premises and equipment to correct standards of cleanliness and frequencies laid down in the cleaning schedules and departmental hygiene policies.
  10. Working on a EPOS based till and adhering to the Cash handling policies and procedures
  11. CLEANING
  12. 1 To comply with the policy of HACCP and adapt to any new regulations.
  13. 2 To work in such a way that does not endanger the safety of self and colleagues, by maintaining a clean, tidy and safe work place area in accordance to the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  14. 3 Cleaning to standards and frequencies laid down in cleaning schedules, to ensure correct standards of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with the hygiene policy and current legislation.

Experience withing the catering industry

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate knowledge within the catering industry
  • Describe how you have reacted to a changing environment
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and follow instructions
  • Be physically fit to carry out the role
  • Polite and friendly disposition
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH within the environment
  • Able to work within other areas within the department
  • Knowledge of patient feeding systems

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 Food Safety
Desirable criteria
  • Allergen Awareness Level 2

Communication

  • Good Communication skills
