This is a fixed term part-time specialty post (4 Professional Activities / 16 hours) to work
within the Gynaecology community services including the Women’s Health Hub ( WHH)
The post is part of the Trust O&G team and will be accountable to the Divisional
Associate Medical Director with day to day supervision under WHH Clinical Lead.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals referred by Primary Care for menopause care / menstrual problems / PMS / vulval symptoms and and benign cervical problems other gynaecological that can be medically-managed (“office gynaecology”).
Main duties of the job- To provide patient-centred holistic care, which maintains confidentiality, respects cultural beliefs and treats all clients in a non-judgmental and unbiased manner
- Apply principles of confidentially and safeguarding in relation to patient care and the clinician’s role.
- To be aware of the limitations of your personal knowledge and skills and to consult with senior colleagues when appropriate.
- To respect the abilities of other clinic staff and to encourage them to develop and maintain new practical skills, so supporting a multidisciplinary approach
- To attend departmental meetings where possible and contribute to/engage with their content as appropriate.
- To work within the guidelines and protocols of the department and to the national guidance of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health and other bodies
- To support the nursing and other medical staff with clinical decisions and planning patient care.
- To keep detailed accurate and contemporaneous clinical notes and prescriptions using the Electronic Patient Record
Working for our organisation
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical Lead and this will be signed off on an annual basis. The initial Job Plan will be reviewed after 3 months and then annually. The Job Plan will be a prospective agreement that will set out duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year in line with the Trust and NHS business and patient care objectives.It will cover all aspects of professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities and resource requirements. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, including details of the link to wider service objectives.

- Able to set up and provide online group clinics to support the needs of the service
- Work independently in a women’s health referral clinic managing the full range of presentations with the service specification of the Women’s Health Hub. This includes “office gynaecology” services such as menstrual problems, menopause care, PCOS, vulval and benign cervical problems.
- Provide clinical services off site as needed in a GP setting.
- Fit and remove intrauterine devices. Ability to manage IUD problems such as non-visible threads would be an advantage. There is an opportunity to provide an additional one stop ultrasound and complex IUD services if the postholder has the right skills.
- Fit and remove ring pessaries. Experience with other devices such as shelf‑pessaries would be an advantage.
- Support the development and provision of the virtual group programme of women’s health clinics which mainly operate during evenings.
- Develop women’s health skills and qualifications where there are gaps in expertise, according to the new NEL women’s health competency framework.
- Participate in twice monthly clinical supervision meetings.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria- LoC SDI implants (FSRH
- LoC IUT intrauterine(FSRH)
- DFSRH
- MBChB/ MBBS or equivalent
- Menopause and or Ultrasound Special Skills Module (FSRH
- Accredited Cervical Screening sample-taker
Eligibility
Essential criteria- Eligible for full registration with General Medical Council (GMC) and holding a licence to practice at the time of the appointment
- Minimum of 4 years (Whole-time equivalent) postgraduate experience (or part-time equivalent) in clinical medicine
Specialty Specific Clinical Skills and Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working as a senior decision maker in integrated sexual health and contraception service and/or specialist women’s health/gynaecology service (e.g. GPwSI or Women’s Health hub)
- Experience of complex IUD procedures under ultrasound guidance
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of current best clinical practice for contraception and management of non-complex STI
Other Skills/ Abilities
Essential criteria- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding
- Ability to make decisions equivalent or above ST6/7 level
- Ability to collate and present service data
