Senior Information Analyst
Department: Finance
Band 6 £39,959 - £48,117 per annum pro rata if part-time
Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Reporting into the Systems Manager, the Senior Information Analyst will be responsible for the monitoring of the daily feeds into the contract monitoring system (SLAM) to ensure that the Trust is reporting its contract values accurately and completely.
You will assist with the daily and weekly submissions of the Clinical Data Sets to the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) and liaising with all relevant Trust personnel to ensure the completeness and accuracy of those submissions.
You will assist in responding to the Commissioner’s monthly challenges ensuring that they are all answered within the relevant deadlines.
You will be able to develop and maintain contract income reports.

The post holder will support the Systems Manager as well as other stakeholders for all aspects of the Trust Income System, Service Level Agreement Monitoring (SLAM). The post holder will need to demonstrate analytical skills, possess strong Structured Query Language (SQL) knowledge and be able to identify and fix any issues as they occur.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working under the management of the Systems Manager, the main responsibilities of the post are as follows:
- Monitor daily feeds into SLAM and responding to issues
- Prepare internal monthly income monitoring reports
- Prepare external monthly Service Level Agreement (SLA) income monitoring reports and submit
- Monitor weekly SUS Clinical Data Set (CDS) submissions, taking corrective action as necessary
- Reconciliation of activity between various reporting systems locally and nationally (e.g. Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), SUS, SLAM)
- Prepare monthly long waiters report
- Prepare Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) report for the Private Patient Officer and submission once ratified.
- Represent Finance in the regular Joint Finance Information Group meetings with the ICB
- Assist the Systems Manager in the improvement of the SLAM system and anything associated with it.
- Assist the Systems Manager in the implementation of improvement of the Power BI reporting platform.
- Prepare the Income and activity Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in a timely manner and submit responses to the Deputy Financial Controller for submission.
- To support the Any Other Business (AOB) process as required
- To comply with budgetary control best practice and Trust Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. To ensure that efficient and effective financial systems are designed, developed and maintained, to enable accurate and timely reporting of financial information, within agreed deadlines.
- Provide support to the Patient Level Information Costing System (PLICS) and costing team as required including developing financial reporting systems and processes to provide information as required.
- To work autonomously, within defined parameters, using own initiative to make operational decisions.
- To provide technical advice as appropriate, in relation to activity related to income.
- To keep up to date comprehensive procedure notes to support all aspects of work performed.

Essential criteria- Educated to a degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience working at a similar level in a specialist area
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of using Secondary Uses Service (SUS)/Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) Acute datasets
- Acute NHS informatics experience
- Acute NHS income reporting experience
- Acute NHS Contracts experience
- Proven experience working within the National Health Service (NHS) financial environment
- Knowledge of the NHS National Tariff
- Implementation of an Acute NHS planning / contracting round
