Job Title: Education Support Worker
Location: Oakham Shires School, Rutland, LE15 6JB

Salary: £18,120 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-15:30

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

About the role

To work as an Education Support Worker, providing support to the teacher and students. In addition to agreed responsibilities of the Education Support Worker and any reasonable direction from the Headteacher or member of the Senior Leadership Team the Education Support Worker will:

Main Tasks

Work with individual and small groups of students on educational and EHCP activities.
Assist teachers in setting short term EHCP targets to support students towards achieving longer term EHCP outcomes.
Assist teachers in developing and implementing individual EHCP programmes.
Support individual and small groups of students across the school curriculum.
Prepare materials and equipment.
Occasionally transport students’ home and on educational visits etc.

Applicants must have a full, clean manual UK Driving Licence and be prepared to drive school vehicles as and when required.

About the school

Oakham Shires School is an Independent Special School for 11-18 year olds who are Autistic and have associated diagnosis and special education needs. The school delivers a primary curriculum to secondary aged pupils who have struggled to cope in a mainstream or larger SEN educational setting and are, as a result, working below age expected stage.

Pupils are taught in small class groups of 4 -5 with a high staff to pupil ratio. Pupils are supported to achieve their Outcomes within their Education Health Care Plan, develop life skills and achieve accreditations in Maths, English and Science.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
