Job Description
The Lead Teacher of Health and Social Care & Child Development is an exciting addition to the Gloucester academy team.
Department:
The Health and Social Care and Child Development department at Gloucester Academy comprises 2 Health and Social Care teachers and 1 Child Development Teacher. All staff are committed to inspiring our young people to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for the health, care or children's sector.All students have the option to study Health and Social Care and Child Development at KS4.
Curriculum:
The Health and Social Care and Child Development department aims to provide an excellent platform for students interested in careers in health, social care or childcare, and helps students to develop lifelong skills that are applicable to society today.Students will be encouraged to explore many themes including equality, diversity and principles of care, underpinning the importance of kindness, belonging and respect within our community. Through our teaching, students will develop empathy and an appreciation towards different situations that occur in Health and Social care settings.
We support students in achieving their potential and to fulfil their ambitions in a variety of potential career pathways, such as midwifery, education and social care.
By the end of their time with us at Gloucester Academy, our students will be able to:
- Have a concrete understanding and appreciation of health indicators and the ability to interpret data to assess an individual’s health and development.
- Have a concrete understanding and appreciation of how children grow and develop within their life stages.
- Have a deep awareness and appreciation for the attitudes, skills and processes required to be successful in a Health and Social Care career.
- Have a deep awareness and appreciation for the ways in which children can be supported to play, learn and develop.
- Study Health and Social Care post-16 at the best colleges, and use this knowledge to have a fulfilling and successful career.
- Study Child Development post-16 at the best colleges, and use this knowledge to have a fulfilling and successful career.
- To create an appropriate working environment which promotes students’: Health; Safety; Enjoyment and Achievement; Positive Contributions; Economic Well-being; International Perspective.
- To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
- To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher/Tutor.
- To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
