Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Knowsley intermediate care services , this is a band 3 role that will support the community services that the intermediate care team covers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to join our team.

The post holder will provide therapeutic input to patients across the Intermediate Care Services in Knowsley. They will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Assistant Practitioners providing therapy to patients who require rehabilitation with the aim of increasing their independence.

The post holder will work directly with patients following rehab plans set by therapists and supporting with daily therapy expectations.

Main duties of the job

The main role of the therapy assistant within Knowsley intermediate care will be;
  • assisting therapist with assessment and treatment plans
  • delivery of treatment plans under supervision
  • support with admin tasks (equipment ordering ect)
  • be flexible within the needs of the service
  • engage in supervision
  • support and engage with the MDT and wider external partners

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or willingness to work towards
  • Willingness to progress through Assistant Competencies
Desirable criteria
  • Trained in a variety of assessment tools.

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a health care setting with service users with a mental health impairment
  • Understanding of safe manual handling techniques to lift / maneuver people using the service and equipment during treatment sessions.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of individuals with sensory and mobility problems.
  • Some understanding of anatomy and physiology
