Job overview
We have a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant position in our busy and thriving Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital as part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job- Ensure the safety of patients at all times and report any hazards.
- Adhere to the Trust policy for the safe keeping of patients’ personal possessions.
- Undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment at the direction of the Nurse in Charge.
- Report faulty equipment in need of repair
- Assist with unpacking and checking of stores as required
- Report when ward stock is low.
- Clean and tidy lockers and cupboards.
- Clean beds and lockers after discharge of patient according to hospital policy
- Answer patient call-bells and take appropriate action.
- Answer telephone in the correct manner and take messages as appropriate.
- Assist in the general cleanliness and tidiness of ward area including kitchen, sluice and storerooms.
- Following appropriate training and when deemed competent, use equipment within own department at the direction of nurse in charge.
- Participate in an annual performance review.
- Understand the importance of fire precautions and is aware of hospital policy regarding emergency procedures for example fire, cardiac arrest and major incident.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria- GCSE A-C Or Functional Skills in English and Maths (Level 1 or 2)
- Ability to write clearly and legibly in English, Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multi-disciplinary team, patient
- Able to perform simple mathematical calculations
- Care Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
