Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and skilled Design Technology Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Sheffield. This full-time role, starting in March, offers a fantastic opportunity to cover a maternity leave and contribute to a school that prides itself on its inclusive culture and commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging and creative Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to explore the subject and develop their skills.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach a range of Design Technology disciplines, including Resistant Materials, Graphics, and Product Design, in alignment with the national curriculum and school objectives.
  • Student Assessment: Plan and assess projects and coursework effectively, providing detailed feedback to support student progress and attainment.
  • Practical Learning: Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, ensuring students understand the practical applications of their work and encouraging innovation.
  • Classroom Management: Create a safe and productive workshop environment, maintaining high standards of health and safety while fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Design Technology department to share resources, refine teaching strategies, and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Support and Guidance: Offer academic and pastoral support to students, helping them develop confidence and enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student progress and coursework requirements.
  • Whole School Contribution: Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and school-wide events to contribute to the vibrant school community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications with a specialism in Design Technology.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching Design Technology at the secondary level, with a solid understanding of the subject's practical and theoretical aspects.
  • Subject Passion: Enthusiastic about Design Technology and committed to fostering creativity and problem-solving skills in students.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to workshop environments and equipment use.
  • Adaptability: Skilled at differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with additional educational needs.
  • Strong Communication: Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Team-Oriented: A collaborative educator who values teamwork and thrives in a supportive department.
