We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to provide a high quality of care to patients in our busy theatre department.

We run a 24 hour service and you would be required to partake in all shifts which includes day shifts, night shifts, on call, evening and weekend work.

Main duties of the job

You should be able to-

Work as an effective team member.

Have the ability to work flexibly.

Assist the registered ODPs and nurses in delivering high quality patient focused care.

Be motivated and dedicated to improving clinical practice.

Be committed to personal and staff development.

Previous care experience desirable.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working with general public
Desirable criteria
  • Manual handling of patients using lift aids
  • Previous experience in care environment
  • Previous theatre experience

Skills, ability and knowledge

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to follow clear instruction
Desirable criteria
  • Aware of the NHS structure and current issues
  • Previous experience of working in a team
  • Previous experience of working without supervision
